Tournament Format and Rules
Categories:
- Men’s Singles
- Women’s Singles
- Men’s Doubles
- Women’s Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
Team Composition:
- Each team can have up to 10 players, including 2 substitutes
- Min 6 players required, 2 women players must
- Substitutions are not allowed once a match has started.
Player Participation:
- Men are restricted to participating in one category only.
- Women can participate in multiple categories
- Teams must decide and declare their players for each category before the start of each game.
Match Play:
- A match consists of 5 games, one in each category
- Any team that wins any 3 category game wins the match
- A team that wins a match gets 3 points
- There will be toss between captains to choose the category they would like to play first
- Next game the opponent captain gets to choose the category.
- Category for game is chosen alternately by each captain and communicated to opponent
- In case of tie is number points between teams in league stages, number of games won (games difference) is considered. If there is a tie, the game match point difference will be considered to break the tie breaker
- At league stages all 5 games will be played, even if a team wins any 3 categories
- The match ends as soon as a team wins 3 categories and further games will not be played in the match in knockout stages
- A game consists of one set (for initial rounds) or best of three sets ( finals).
- Each game is played for 21 points
- Max till 25 points post which sudden death or first to reach 26 wins the game
- Sides to be changed after 11 points.
Standard Badminton Rules:
Service:
The shuttle must be hit below the server’s waist and with the racquet head pointing downwards.
The server must stand within the service court boundaries, and the serve must land in the diagonally opposite service court.
Faults:
- If the shuttle lands outside the court boundaries.
- If the shuttle passes through or under the net.
- If the shuttle touches the ceiling or walls.
- If the shuttle is hit twice in succession by the same player.
Let:
A let is called when there is an unexpected disturbance or if the shuttle disintegrates during play.
Player Attire:
Players must wear appropriate sports attire including non-marking badminton shoes. No barefoot allowed
Team and Player Conduct:
All players must display good sportsmanship and respect towards opponents, officials, and teammates.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to verbal abuse or intentional damage to equipment, will result in penalties or disqualification.
